Welcome to my Blog!

I am the mother of three young children and a lifelong resident of the
Santa Clarita Valley. My passion for photography began in grade school
and I have spent over twenty years since practicing and studying the
art.

I have always worked with kids and currently teach part time
seventh grade math as well. My approach to picture taking is relaxed
and I strive to capture genuine moments and relationships. My patience
and love for children make photo sessions less stressful than
traditional studio experiences.

My shooting schedule is limited to a
few days per month so your images will get the time and attention they
deserve. Our time together will not be rushed and your family will be
able to let true personalities shine through. I hope to capture this
special time in your family's life soon.

just some new fun stuff :)

Fun Things For Kids: Pretend City

I have so many fun things for kids to post.  I am behind but I promise to keep this blog updated in 2010!  I finally had a chance to take my kids to Pretend City in Orange County yesterday.  I thought they might be too old but they LOVED it.  If you have kids 10 or under (especially 2-6), it’s a great place to take them.  It’s far (about an hour and a half if you luck out with traffic) but worth it if you have a whole day or are already in the area. It’s $10 per person which I know adds up with a big family but if you’ve never taken your kids somewhere like this, you’ll be so glad you did.  It’s genius.  :)

It’s basically just what you’d think - a pretend city for kids with a grocery story, post office, bank, restaurant, house, hospital, garden, construction zone, beach, art studio, water play area, and theater where kids work and play together.  I was most impressed by the number of employees who helped at each location.  Here are some snaps of our day…

Christmas Lights!

Well, I ended up being much busier than expected this holiday season.  Thank you to everyone who came for portraits, sent me cards, dressed as Santa, braved the rain, etc, etc, etc!  But since I was so crazy, I have neglected this little blog!  Here is the 2009 holiday light tour from the Signal.  We’ve seen some amazing houses but haven’t hit them all yet!

Fun Things for Kids: Geocaching

Have you heard of this?  I read about it in a magazine years ago and we finally tried it.  Basically, all over the world, people have hidden treasures for your family to find.  It’s usually a little black container (like a mint tin) with a list inside.  When you find one, you sign your name to the bottom of the list and put it back for the next person to find.  You can even hide your own geocaches.  All you need is a hand held GPS receiver.  We used an iphone app and Rob’s GPS device to go on a hunt.  Today we found 5 hidden geocaches - one at Towsley Canyon, two at Hart Park, and two over by In and Out Burger on The Old Road.  To get started, visit the geocaching.com website.  There are SO MANY hidden treasures here in the SCV and probably anywhere your family goes.  It was such a thrill for the kids when they found each one.  Some were hidden right off the road and some we had to hike a little bit to find.  If you already have a GPS receiver, this is free fun!  Here are some photos from our day.

November 11, 2009 - 9:50 pm Shannon - This is sooo cool. I can not wait until the girls are a bit older. Hmmm may have to get on finding a GPS device.

Fun Things for Kids: Halloween Shirts

blogpumpkin

Remember these shirts?  When I was at the pumpkin patch yesterday, I ran into a family that used the idea for Halloween shirts. SO CUTE!  Then, they told me that when you spray bleach on a black shirt, it turns orange.  Perfect for Halloween.  So I hustled out today and bought some black shirts (2 for $5 at Michaels again) and this is what we made. ….shirts

They are still wet in these photos and since the kids have to wear certain things to school tomorrow, I won’t get a shot of them being worn until Thursday.  I couldn’t wait to show you because it’s almost Halloween!  Oh - we googled “printable pumpkin carving patterns” to make the designs.  The kids cut them out on their own.  I thought they did a pretty messy job but it didn’t matter in the end.  I like that the kids can do that part themselves and it still looks good.  :)

Here they are!bloghalloweenstuff-1-2kids
